Cow"Boys" of the Month

Nickolas Lopes & Justin Barlahan

 

Nick is the son of Chris and Deidra Lopes of Makawao and a member of the Hawaii High School Rodeo Association Jr. Wrangler Maui Team.  He is currently in the 6th grade at Kalama Intermediate and has posted a GPA of 3.200 for his 1st quarter grades. When he is not roping steers in the arena, Nick helps dad on their pig farm, is involved in 4H and enjoys sleep overs with his buddies Ka'ena and Kala'e.  Together they drive Nick's little sister Diana c-r-a-z-y........

Justin is the son of Sam Barlahan of Pukalani, Tanya Norton of Kahului and a member of the Hawaii High School Rodeo Association Maui Team.  He is currently a Senior at King Kekaulike High School and has posted a GPA of 3.857 for his 1st quarter grades.  When Justin is not being a cowboy, he enjoys computer programming, spending time at the beach and planning for life in COLLEGE.  Justin plans to leave Hawaii to further his education in the states and hopes to be part of a COLLEGE level Rodeo Team.

 The Cowboys for the months of November and December 2009 have been selected based on their academic accomplishments for the 1st quarter of the school year 2009-2010. The Jr. Wrangler and High School Male contestant with the highest GPA in their respective divisions were chosen for this honored recognition. It is very important that our children not only grow in horsemanship and skill, but also excel in EDUCATION....
